The History of BerryBalm:
As with many great discoveries, the birth of BerryBalm was accidental. Our story begins with our founder; known as the Big Berry to some around here. Big Berry is an avid surfer, waterman and former lifeguard. As such, he has lived on a small island, playing around and in Mother Ocean and her surrounding beaches his whole life.
Many years of sun exposure took its toll on our founder's skin. Of course, Big Berry took precautions and used a variety of highly regarded sunscreens, but he discovered first hand that these products often seemed to do more harm than good.
Eventually, our founder became curious about what it was he was entrusting his skin care to and began to investigate product labels. Unable to pronounce half the ingredients, Big Berry did some research and what he learned changed his life. Discovering that some of the ingredients had been proven harmful and had actually been banned in some countries. Troubled by his findings the Big Berry endeavored to search for a better way to protect his skin & his life.
Big Berry set out to create a natural, chemical-free sunscreen that would actally protect his skin instead of destroying it. One day while working in his humble laboratory, Big Berry noticed the branches of a tree shaking just outside his window. Curious, as it was a windless day, Big Berry decided to investigate. What he discovered was a squirrel dangling precariously from one of the tree's branches, hanging from one leg, desperately attempting to reach a tiny, dark berry.
This tree, (really a big bush), had been planted by our founder many years earlier when he had first bought his property. A Nurturing soul by nature our founding Berry utilized what he found existing on the property for landscaping. Included was a nondescript helpless looking sapling that had become this fruit bearing bush. Recalling the planting & care of this once sapling a decade earlier, the Big Berry wondered why this squirrel was now risking life and limb for this berry. What could be so wonderful about this little fruit? After a little research, Big Berry discovered he had saved an Aronia bush all those years ago & this little fruit had big potential.
When he learned about the incredible life enhancing potency contained in the Aronia fruit, Big Berry made a fateful decision. In that moment of wonder, discovery and chance, our founder was compelled to put the power contained in the Aronia Berry to use. What resulted was the creation of personal care products utilizing this amazing fruit: Nutronia and Berry Naturals were born.
Fate had one more surprise for our founder. Big Berry had historically suffered from the occasional cold sore. One morning, he noticed & felt the tell tale warning signs of an imminent outbreak; this same day he was testing his new all natural sunscreen. When Big Berry awoke the following morning, he noticed the swelling and redness on his lip had completely vanished. He could hardly believe no trace of the cold sore remained. Amazed, he realized he had inadvertantly treated the offending area with the Nutronia-based sunscreen he was testing. The implication was not lost on our founder and the rest, as they say, is history. Berry Naturals had its first sensational product; BerryBalm
Several years and many formulas later, our founder is finally ready to share his creation with the world. Only ever testing on the ones he loves, Big Berry's years of sweat and toil yielded what we believe to be the most potent, all natural premium lip care on Earth. The one balm to rule them all: BerryBalm.
Berry Balm is the first of many such products to be launched by Berry Naturals.
